I hope you’ve been watching the London Olympic opening ceremony; if you haven’t been, why not?! To be honest it was really weird at first but when you realise that it’s a story (made by Danny Boyle) it actually is pretty amazing!

Anyway, my lesson for today is about the Internet and who created it. If you watch the ceremony, you’ll know now that it’s Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee that invented the internet and made the first actual communication on December 25th 1990. He is, in fact, a born and bred Southwest Londoner and he received a first degree in Physics at Oxford Uni.

I know that Internet hasn’t always been around and has improved over time, but isn’t it a bazaar concept to just invent the Internet – It’s virtual, so to me, that makes it sound imaginary… How can you just invent the Internet? There’s no way I’m going to find out about that, a tad bit out of my depth there!
I know that we all spend far too much time on the internet and rely on it loads, so thank you Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee!
